Fuel Finder
*** NOW WITH CARPLAY ***
Find the cheapest fuel from the comfort of your driver's seat.
This app will save you money. Every single tank. Fuel Finder finds the lowest petrol, diesel and premium prices near you, on the map, along your entire route, in Drive Mode, and on your CarPlay screen.
Find the cheapest fuel from the comfort of your driver's seat
Connect your iPhone and Fuel Finder appears as a fueling app on the CarPlay screen. Three maps and a Settings tab, built to read at a glance:
Cheapest — the lowest prices in range, up to five.
Nearest — the shortest drives in range, up to five.
Favourites — your saved stations that are currently in range, cheapest first.
Settings — change distance, miles or kilometres, fuel type and older-price handling, then refresh from the car's GPS.
Pin colour is the station's place among the other non-stale prices in range. Green is the cheapest quarter, red is the dearest quarter, and amber is everything between. If there are fewer than four different prices, every pin is amber. A price older than your age limit stays grey when you have chosen Show Warning. Tap a pin for the price per litre, distance, driving time, how it compares with the average from this search, and open or closed when the station has published hours. Directions opens Apple Maps on the car display.
CarPlay follows the car's own location, not a place you searched on the phone. Fuel type on the car cycles through petrol, premium petrol and diesel. Changing distance or fuel searches again from the car's GPS. An active subscription is required.
Route Search — fuel up without ever driving out of your way
Almost every other fuel app only checks stations near your home. Fuel Finder is different: set a start and destination and it scans prices along your entire journey — motorway, A-road or high street — so you can spot the cheapest stop that's already on your way. No detour, no wasted diesel, no guesswork.
Prices between stations just a few miles apart can vary a lot — and on a long drive, that gap is often bigger than the price of your subscription for the entire year. Fill up smart, not just fill up nearest.
Drive Mode — your 2 nearest and 2 cheapest, at a glance
Open Drive Mode and, as soon as there is a GPS fix, Fuel Finder shows the 2 nearest stations and the 2 cheapest within your target range — up to 4 in total. The car does not need to be moving. Brand and maximum-price filters from the rest of the app are ignored here. Each row shows driving distance once a route is known, a compass direction such as "2 o'clock" once a heading exists, whether the station is currently open, and how its price compares with the average from your search.
Where MapKit has a route, you'll also see a one-line hint for your first turn. The direction arrow stays hidden until the compass has a heading. It's deliberately stripped back: get set up before you pull away, then glance rather than tap. Pull over somewhere safe before opening any station's details.
Why Fuel Finder
Fuel Finder searches nearby fuel stations by price and distance, shows them on a live map, and searches along an entire journey so the cheapest stop is one you're already driving past. Drive Mode keeps the nearest and cheapest options on your iPhone while you drive. CarPlay puts the same choice on the car screen: cheapest, nearest, favourites and settings, with directions in Apple Maps. Filter by fuel type, brand and price, follow the live average if you want, hide prices older than the age you choose, see three months of price history, save stations, places and routes, and check facility icons and opening hours where that data exists. Less spent at the pump, more left in your pocket.
How to Use
Use your current GPS location, or search for a place name or postcode from the Map tab to check prices anywhere else in the UK.
Browse nearby stations sorted by price or distance, or view them as pins on the map. Tap a station for full details, opening hours and facilities.
Set a start and destination to search for the cheapest stations along the whole journey, not just near home. Adjust the corridor width to widen or narrow how far off the route a station can be, and fill up without adding a single unnecessary mile.
Open the Drive tab. The 2 nearest and 2 cheapest stations appear as soon as GPS is available, with distance, open/closed status and price-versus-average. The direction arrow appears when the compass has a heading. Pull over safely before opening any station's details.
Connect the iPhone and open Fuel Finder on the car screen. Cheapest, Nearest and Favourites each show up to five stations. Settings on the car changes distance, units, fuel type (petrol, premium petrol or diesel) and whether older prices are excluded or shown with a warning. Green, amber and red pins show the cheapest quarter, the middle and the dearest quarter of prices in range. Grey means the price is older than your limit and Show Warning is on. Tap a pin, then Directions, and Apple Maps opens on the car display. CarPlay follows the car's GPS. An active subscription is required. If it has lapsed, the car screen asks you to resume it on your phone.
Open any station to see how its price has moved over the last three months, including the low, the high and the change. A station with only one recorded price shows that baseline until the next change.
Every station shows quick icons for toilets, car wash, AdBlue, shop and more, wherever that data is available. These are a hint, not a filter — see "Facilities are not a filter" below.
Save favourite stations, locations and routes for quick access. In the List tab, use the heart icon in the toolbar to choose how favourites appear — above results, always shown, or favourites only. Saved stations that are currently in range also appear on the CarPlay Favourites map.
Choose petrol, premium petrol, diesel or electric. Electric is listed and tells you charger prices are not yet supported. Set max distance, max price, or a max price that follows the live average. Set how old a price can be, from 1 to 90 days, and whether older prices are excluded or shown with a warning. Choose brands, miles or kilometres, and your preferred directions app: Apple Maps, or Google Maps, Waze, TomTom GO or Citymapper when installed. CarPlay can change distance, units, fuel type and the older-price choice, and it always opens Apple Maps on the car screen.
Prices and Facilities
Live fuel prices and station details come from the UK Government Fuel Finder service, delivered through our own proxy at ggonline.co.uk/fuel. Price history is built from those government prices. The app shows the last 90 days.
Facilities and opening hours start from the operator-supplied government record. Where that record is missing a facility or opening hours, OpenStreetMap is used to fill the gap. Those details may be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. Please check with the station before relying on them.
Facilities are not a filter. We show facility icons as a quick hint on every station, but we deliberately don't let you hide stations by facility — the underlying data isn't reliable enough to safely rule stations out. Always confirm on arrival.
Subscription
Fuel Finder Annual unlocks nearby search, map view, route search, Drive Mode, CarPlay, favourites and price history — for £1.99 per year. That's less than 4p a week, and finding just one cheaper tank of fuel usually covers the entire year. Charged via Apple ID. Auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. CarPlay shows nearby prices only while the subscription is active.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Fuel Finder is built by Gary Greenhill ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens with your data when you use the app.
No account, no profile
Fuel Finder does not require you to sign in or create an account, and we do not build a profile of you.
Location
Your location is used only to find nearby fuel stations, to search along a route you enter, to show a compass direction in Drive Mode, and to keep the CarPlay maps current while your iPhone is connected to the car. Location is requested only "while using the app". It is not collected in the background. It is processed on your device using Apple's Core Location and MapKit frameworks. Search coordinates are sent to our proxy server (ggonline.co.uk/fuel) solely to fetch nearby station results and are not stored against any personal identifier, because there isn't one — we have no account system to attach it to. CarPlay follows the car's GPS. It does not use a place you searched on the phone.
Favourites
Favourite stations, locations and routes are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see your payment details — only whether your subscription is currently active, which Apple's systems confirm directly to the app.
Third parties involved in showing you results
To show live prices, the proxy calls the UK Government's official Fuel Finder service. Facilities and opening hours come from that same service, with missing details filled from OpenStreetMap. Maps and directions use Apple's MapKit. None of these calls include anything that identifies you personally — only the coordinates needed to answer your search.
No analytics, no advertising, no selling data
Fuel Finder contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not sell your data to anyone.
Children
Fuel Finder is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children under 13.
Your rights and contact
Because we don't hold an account or profile tied to you, there is generally nothing personal of yours for us to export or delete beyond what's already stored only on your own device. If you have any question about this policy or how the app handles your data, contact support@ggonline.co.uk. We may update this policy from time to time; changes will be posted on this page with a revised date above.
Terms of Use
Last updated: 5 October 2026
By downloading or using Fuel Finder, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Fuel Finder on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Subscription
Full access, including CarPlay, requires a Fuel Finder Annual subscription, currently £1.99 per year. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. If the subscription is not active, CarPlay asks you to resume it on your iPhone and does not show station prices.
Accuracy of prices and facilities
Fuel prices, facilities and opening hours are supplied by third parties (the UK Government's Fuel Finder service and OpenStreetMap) and are periodically refreshed — they may be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. Always confirm price and availability at the station itself before relying on this information, particularly before a long detour.
Driving safely
Drive Mode and CarPlay are designed to be glanced at, not fiddled with, while driving. You are solely responsible for using the app safely and legally, including complying with any local laws about device use while driving. You can set fuel type, distance, units and older-price handling on the iPhone or from the CarPlay Settings tab. Pull over somewhere safe before opening any station's details on the phone. On CarPlay, choosing Directions opens Apple Maps on the car display.
No warranty
Fuel Finder is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee the app or the third-party data it displays will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the app, including reliance on price, facility or routing information it displays. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot legally be limited.
Ending your use
You can stop using Fuel Finder and delete it at any time. We may suspend or discontinue the app or any part of the service at our discretion. Ending your use does not automatically cancel an active Apple subscription — cancel that separately via your Apple ID settings.

Troubleshooting
Try increasing the max distance, widening your brand or price filters, or raising the maximum price age. Prices older than that age are hidden while Exclude is selected.
Check that Fuel Finder has location access in your device Settings, or search for a place name or postcode from the Map tab instead.
The station list only needs a GPS fix. The arrow needs a compass heading, and it stays hidden until one exists. Move the phone, or give the compass a moment to settle. You do not need to be driving for the list itself.
Fuel Finder has to be open from the CarPlay dashboard, with the iPhone connected and an active subscription. If the subscription has lapsed, resume it or tap Restore Purchases on the iPhone. CarPlay searches around the car's GPS, not a place you typed on the phone, and only UK stations have prices. Distance, units, fuel type and older-price handling can be changed on the car's Settings tab. Those settings are shared with the iPhone. Favourites on CarPlay only lists saved stations that are inside that distance right now. A grey pin is a price older than your age limit, shown because Show Warning is on.
The map's location button always recentres on your real GPS position without starting a new search. To look at prices somewhere else, use the search bar to enter a place name or postcode instead of panning the map.
Facility and opening-hour data comes from operator reports and OpenStreetMap, and it may be incomplete. Please check with the station directly.
If your subscription isn't recognised, the subscription screen will appear automatically — tap Restore Purchases there to re-sync with your Apple ID.
